This is African hunting. Nothing comes close.

Father and son, Willem and Flippie Frost, teamed up in 2003 to create Matlabas Game Hunters, a safari company that specialises in bow hunting safaris in South Africa. The main hunting reserve from where the hunting safaris are conducted has been in the Frost family since 1993.

The goal of Matlabas Game Hunters is to provide exceptional service and a top quality hunt at a competitive price. With all-round good trophy animals and our experienced guides, trackers and camp staff, it makes for a truly unforgettable African experience.

Conservation

Matlabas Game Hunters is committed to conservation and we strongly believe in “Conservation through sustainable utilization. Our strict management policies keep game populations at healthy numbers and produces top-class trophy animals.

We do not believe in introducing alien or invasive species into any given habitat. Hunting on our Matlabas property is thus restricted to cape eland, southern greater kudu, southern impala, plains zebra, common waterbuck, red hartebeest, blue wildebeest, warthog, steenbok, grey duiker, nyala, cape buffalo (when available), gemsbok, and southern giraffe. Hunters wishing to hunt additional species such as springbuck, roan, reedbuck, mountain reedbuck, black wildebeest, etc. will be taken to other suitable concessions where these species can be hunted in their natural habitat.

Matlabas Game Hunters are committed to ethical hunting practices and all hunts are undertaken within our own ethical framework, the essence of which is

  1. hunting within the spirit of fair chase, and
  2. ensuring a quick, clean kill.

Our Stance

We do NOT practice or participate in any intensive breeding for specific morphological characteristics (such as colour variants) in unnatural small camps. Our herds are managed in an extensive system where natural selection prevails and where the wildlife is NOT dependent on man for food, shelter, breeding, etc. We do NOT hunt domesticated or semi-domesticated animals. Nor do we practice put-and-take hunting. With Matlabas Game Hunters the hunter has to work for his trophy, and he needs patience and, as always, a bit of luck.

We endeavour to offer a something of the old, romantic Africa. We would like our guests to relive the past; go where the hunters of yesteryear went, experience the African bush and the wildlife and thrills that they experienced, and hunt the animals that they hunted – in the same pristine natural environment. We would like you to sit around the campfire and take in the sounds of the African night, preparing yourself mentally to take on some of the world’s toughest animals the next day.
