Gamedrives: Guests are taken out into the bush in one of our open game viewing vehicles.
Animals one can expect to see include buffalo, giraffe, kudu, eland, nyala, zebra, red
hartebeest, blue wildebeest, bushbuck, impala, warthog, duiker, steenbok. Night drives are
also the perfect opportunity to see some of the nocturnal animals like leopard, aardvark,
bushbabies and brown hyena.

Guided bush walks: While on a walk in the bush we concentrate more on the things one
tend to miss on a gamedrive. Our guides are very knowledgable about the trees, birds, insects
and smaller reptiles and will share with guests stories and interesting facts about the bush and
it's inhabitants.

Birdwatching: Matlabas Game Lodge is the ideal place for the bird enthusiasts with over 200
recorded species in the area. We have blinds at the waterholes where one can spend hours on
end looking at the varied birdlife, as well as the animals that come in for a drink.

Hunting: Hunting on the property can be undertaken any time of the year although it is for the
most part restricted to the colder months, starting in April and ending in October. All hunting
activities are undertaken through
Matlabas Game Hunters and must be booked in advance.

Target shooting: Our resident Professional Hunter, Flippie Frost, will take you through the art
of shooting with a rifle or bow & arrow. A 100m rifle shooting range and an archery shooting
range is within close walking distance of the lodge.

Breakfast, brunch or dinner out in the bush: Enjoy truly South African cooking in the
surroundings of the African bush. The sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors will enliven
any meal.

Swimming pool: Our swimming pool is the ideal place to spend time between other activities
on a hot summer's day. Nestled between some umbrella-thorn trees, it is the perfect spot to
relax.
